Quina has a color range from golden brown over purple-red to burgundy and darkens with time a bit more to red. It has unincisive grain. Quina has a noticeable effect on the blunting of blades. You should always use very sharp blade. It appears a very spicy scent when working on. This tree is used to produce a perfume scent called balsam of Peru.
