The name ferrule is not familiar to everyone, but it has a wide variety of uses in everyday life. Basically, a ferrule is a connector to a shaft that simultaneously holds together loose ends of various kinds. They are often used in the electronics industry for loose cable ends or to hold connections between cables. Guitar makers use them to hold guitar strings in place, or for brushes, the bristles are clamped in this. We also know ferrules in pencils, namely where the eraser merges into the barrel.
These are something like sleeves.
Ferrules in Elforyn and Juma
At Elforyn we talk about ferrules for billiard cues. They are located at the end of the shaft, that is, where the leather tips (pomerances) are attached. The ferrule protects the rest of the cue from cracks and specifically absorbs hard shocks. The material used in earlier times was ivory, but nowadays it is replaced by industrially produced materials.
Self-developed materials
At Elforyn, a special material has been developed for this purpose. The material, known under the brand name elforyn®, has very similar properties to the natural raw material. It is chalk-repellent, thermoformable and can be polished to a high gloss. The color is almost identical to ivory and also has the typical ivory grain.
In our online store we also offer other materials for ferrules. For example Juma. Juma, also developed in our company, is a heat-resistant plastic material in light ivory. The rod can be easily machined to millimeter precision and shines with a wonderful luster. It does not swell and is insensitive to lime.
We also offer the material Aegis-2. Aegis II is a heat-resistant ferrules material based on linen melamine. High stability is achieved by special processes. It has excellent bonding with epoxy, cyanoacrylate and wood adhesives, it is easy to process and the color shade varies from matt white to ivory.
