Gombeira is known for its exceptional hardness and elegant appearance. It is a particularly heavy wood with a dark, deep brown to almost black color, which becomes even more intense through oxidation. The wood has a fine-pored structure, often with attractive grains such as twisted grain, which give it a silky shine.

Gombeira is very weather-resistant and durable. Despite its high density, it can be polished to a smooth and attractive surface.
